TUITION FEES

The tuition fees are listed below by courses. Take advantage of the reduced Early Bird fee (see details below for course-specific rates and deadlines).

Fee payment

Please do NOT include accommodation costs when you pay your tuition fee. Accommodation costs should be paid upon arrival at the hotel either in cash or by credit card. In case you have a sponsor covering your accommodation expenses who would prefer to pay the amount in advance, please contact Ms Edina Varga  at VargaE@ceu.edu

Invoices for the tuition fee will be made out to the participants’ name. In case you need an invoice to be issued for an institution instead (e.g. for your university, NGO, company, etc.), please click here to fill out the necessary information for the invoice before you make the payment. If you have any questions related to the invoice, please contact Ms. Anita Beczo, CEU Budget & Finance Office, at beczoa@ceu.edu . 
 

Online Payment

 
CEU offers the opportunity for Summer University fees to be paid on-line via https://payments.ceu.edu . 
 
In the Department and the Reason for payment dropdown menus please select "Summer University".
You are kindly requested  to include your name and the title of your course in the comment  field so that we can track your payment.

Fee-refund policy

In the event of cancellation by a participant CEU will refund the tuition fee as follows.

General Refund Policy
 
  • Before May 28 CEU - will refund 90% of the tuition fee.
  • Between May 28 and 14 days prior to the course starting - 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded.
  • Within 14 days of the course starting - no refund for tuition fees will be given.
The General Refund Policy applies to the following courses:
 
  • Cognitive Phenomenology
  • Conceptualizing, Navigating, and Representing the Field in Migration Studies
  • Constitution-building in Africa
  • Cultures of Dissent in Eastern Europe (1945-1989)
  • Fields of Vision: Memory, Identity, and Images of the Past
  • Innovations in Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Political Psychology: Ideology and Partisanship
  • Romani Identities and Antigypsyism
  • Sustainability Transitions and the Precautionary Principle
  • The Morality of Discrimination
 

‘A’ Type Refund Policy

  • Before April 30 - CEU will refund 90% of the tuition fee.
  • Between May 1 and 30 days prior to the course starting - 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded.
  • Within 30 days of the course starting - no refund for tuition fees will be given.
The 'A' Type Refund Policy applies  to the following courses:
 
  • Geospatial Technologies and Remote Sensing for Monitoring Sustainable Development Goals
  • Global Entrepreneurship and Startup Camp
  • Internationalization of the University at Home
  • Learning can be fun
  • Measuring and Building Audience Trust
  • Mediation Theory and Skills
 
‘B’ Type Refund Policy
 
  • Before June 1 - 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded.
  • From June 1 - no refund for tuition fees will be given.
The 'B' Type Refund Policy applies to the following courses:
 
  • Music as Heritage: From Tradition to Markets
 
Cancellation by CEU Summer University (SUN) 
 
CEU SUN reserves the right to cancel any of the following courses if they fail to meet the requirement of minimum enrolment:
 
  • Global Entrepreneurship and Startup Camp
  • Internationalization of the University at Home
  • Measuring and Building Audience Trust
  • Mediation Theory and Skills
We will inform all applicants on April 30th about the confirmation or cancellation of these courses, except The Global Entrepreneurship and Startup Camp course, which will notify applicants on May 6th.
 
Should a course be cancelled, the summer school will refund 100% of the fee paid. Participants should not purchase tickets or book accommodations before the confirmation date, as the summer school can only reimburse the fee but no other costs. 
 

LIVING EXPENSES IN BUDAPEST

Estimated living costs

Estimated living costs are 150-200 EUR per week including local transportation and meals.

Local Transportation

You can buy 7-day, 14-day or monthly passes for local transportation in Budapest which are valid for all means of public transport (metro, buses, trolley buses and trams). 

Tickets and passes*

  • single ticket: 350 HUF
  • one-week pass: 4950 HUF
  • two-weeks pass: 7000 HUF
  • monthly pass for adults (with no discount): 10500 HUF
  • monthly student pass: 3850 HUF

Accommodation in the CEU Residence Center
  • 17 EUR/night in a shared double room
  • 28 EUR/night in a single room
Meals

Altogether approximately 80-100 EUR can be budgeted for meals for a week. For more information about meals and recommended places for lunch and snacks check our "Eating around CEU" section.
