Teaching is supplemented by various social and academic events including optional walking tours in Budapest, film screenings, public lectures, and informal social gatherings such as a boat trip on the Danube, outings, welcome and farewell receptions, etc.
Listed below are a number of events organized by the Summer University Office. Participants will receive further details in their Welcome Pack upon arrival and later on from their course coordinators.
Opening Reception
On the evening of the first Monday, when several courses start, participants and faculty are invited for a welcome party. Occasionally, this event is combined with a panel discussion or a keynote lecture, followed by a rception where refreshments are served.
Boat trip on the Danube to Szentendre
On Sundays, the SUN Office tends to organize a day trip on the Danube to Szentendre, a small, picturesque city near Budapest, for courses that are longer than six days and have a free Sunday in their schedule.
