Target group

The target group for the workshop includes: National Focal Points of international conventions, environmental practitioners, and researchers involved in water and SDG-related issues. No prior experience in application of geospatial technologies is required.


Participants will be required to prove professional and/or academic focus on environmental, water, and/or SDG related issues. Intermediate computer user skills are required for this course, but previous experience with geographic information systems (GIS) or remote sensing software is not required. There will be two options for all hands-on GIS and remote sensing exercises, ranging in technical difficulty to accommodate varying backgrounds of participants.

Language requirement

The language of instruction is English, thus all applicants have to demonstrate a strong command of spoken and written English to be able to participate actively in discussions at seminars and workshops. Some of the shortlisted applicants may be contacted for a telephone interview.
